English is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world. It is the language of science, of computers, diplomacy, and tourism. Being able to speak and understand English increases your chances of getting a good job in a multinational company within your home country or of finding work abroad.

The English Department at Erlangen Commercial School cover different areas of learning English as a second language. With a strong focus on Business English and everyday business communications we try to implement general language skills as well as listening, reading and writing skills. English is taught in all grades (6-11) and is part of the final exam, which consits of an oral and a writing part.

What is really a highlight in our school’s calendar is the trip to Scotland. A trip abroad gives them that unique opportunity to get extensive practice.Teaching our students about the country's culture is one thing, having them experience it first-hand is a completely different thing. Living the experience not only makes it a lot easier for the students to understand, but also makes it a lot more enjoyable and fun.

Further, we offer the opportunity to take part in the annual “KMK-Fremdsprachen Zertifikat”. A certificate aimed at people who would like to prove their detailed knowledge in business English to their future employer. To meet the different needs of our students, there are two different levels of difficulty. There students can prove both their written and spoken language skills. A specially designed “Business English Qualifizierungsfach” will prepare and help the students to pass the certificate successfully.
